Actor Mahie Gill, who has carved a niche for herself in Bollywood by playing bold roles, seems to have landed herself in trouble. The actor, who has been shown smoking and drinking in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster (SBAG, 2011) and will be seen doing the same in its sequel, has supposedly taken to the habits herself. Apparently, her father has given Mahie, who hails from a middle-class family, quite a lecture about it.

A source close to her reveals, “Mahie was a complete teetotaler. In SBAG, she was shown smoking and drinking extensively. She’s doing the same in the sequel, Saheb Biwi Aur Ganster Returns, which she shot drinking a peg of vodka every day. And due to this, she has actually started drinking and smoking — something that has not gone down too well with her parents.”

The source adds that the actor’s dad has given her strict instructions to stop it immediately. “Her father has asked her to go to rehab. He is extremely angry and has made it very clear to her that she needs to end it all,” the source says. When contacted about this news, all Mahie said was, “I learned to smoke during the making of SBAG, and during this film, I’ve learned how to drink.”

A drink too many
Seems like Sahib Biwi Gangster Returns actor Mahie Gill is trying too hard to get into character. As she plays a drunken royal housewife in the film, Mahie is also resorting to alcohol to promote the film while staying in character.

“She sat with her drinks during the media interaction at a city hotel on Friday,” reveals a source from the hotel. Another insider from the production house confirms this ruckus. The source says says, “She wanted to do that as she wanted to give the exact impression of her character in the film.”

After the event was over Mahie was unable to even stand and the hotel’s staff had to come to her rescue. “The staff came forward to hold her and help her get in her car,” adds the source.
