From an author-backed debut in his father Rakesh Roshan’s film, Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai in 2000 to pat-worthy performances in Mission Kashmir, Koi... Mil Gaya, Lakshya, Jodhaa Akbar, Guzaarish, and recently Agneepath — irrespective of their fates at the box office — actor Hrithik Roshan has stopped at nothing to escalate in terms of popularity and fame. Hrithik Roshan brought in his 39th birthday at a party hosted by his wife

Would you call yourself a party person?
I am not one kind of a person. For this birthday party too, I was not involved, Sussanne just invited me to my birthday (laughs). At times I get anxious about
the next day when I’m partying late. So I party only if there’s a real reason to rejoice. It’s difficult for me to party for no reason. I would rather spend that time with my family.

What is the best present you’ve ever received?
Hrithik-SussanneI can’t think of a particular one. There have been numerous occasions when I have been surprised, shocked and completely taken aback by the gifts I have received. But I can’t recall presents. For me, the value for material things is little. I don’t get attached to them (material things) so that’s why I can’t remember them. Feelings and emotions mean a lot. What I do recall is being always loved. And that is a huge blessing. I feel fortunate and I am full of gratitude for all the love I have received from those around me. I hope to continue sharing and returning it.

Can you remember your most memorable birthday party?
When I was a kid, I recall attending a few fancy-dress bashes and dance competitions with my friends. They form nice memories. But the best thing is that all of us (my friends), we are still together and we meet up whenever we can. The love is very much there.

What do you enjoy the most about birthdays?

My birthday gives me an excuse to take time off from work and meet my family and relatives from my mother’s side as well as my father’s. It’s a lovely occasion to receive all the love and take out time to be able to give that love back. I get the entire day to myself and no one can take that away from me. It’s a nice feeling.
