Chahat Khanna ties the knot with Farhan Mirza, to have three ceremonies in a day

Weddings are a big deal in India, and Chahat Khanna will have three ceremonies on her big day, which takes place tomorrow. The TV actor, better known as Ayesha from Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (BALH), marries businessman Farhan Mirza.

A thrilled Chahat says, “The mehendi and sangeet will take place today. Tomorrow, the nikaah is at 10.30 am and pheras are in the evening followed by a reception.” But she’s excited to include a Christian wedding ceremony in the entire affair as well. “Though we won’t take vows, I will wear a white gown, exchange rings and cut a three-tier wedding cake.”

The bride-to-be says she’s going all out with her outfits as well. “For the mehendi, I’ll wear a lovely yellow coloured ghagra-choli designed by my stylist. My to-be mother-in-law has given me a pink ghagra, which I will wear during the nikaah. It has a red dupatta, which is a family heirloom. For the pheras, it’s a red and green ghagra-choli and for the reception, a white wedding gown. But I will have chudas on too.”

This is Chahat’s second marriage. She says, “I think highly of Farhan, which is why we decided to get married within three months of knowing each other.” Taking a decision to remarry was difficult for her. She says, “It’s not easy. If a marriage breaks down, everyone knows about it. If a relationship doesn’t work out, no one finds out. I could have lived in and not told people anything, but I don’t want to cheat myself. Everyone wants their marriage to work out, but the times are such that divorces are in vogue. There are cases where people have married for the fourth or fifth time.”

Post marriage, the actor will not be seen in BALH. She says, “I left because even though the role gave me great publicity, it didn’t have much for me to do, except make people hate me.”

Ravi Dubey surprises girlfriend Sargun Mehta with a ring on a reality show

After the famous Sushant Singh Rajput-Ankita Lokhande marriage proposal on national television during Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, another dance show has become the venue for a romantic proposal. Actor Ravi Dubey went down on his knee and asked girlfriend Sargun Mehta to marry him on Nach Baliye.

Sargun says, “More than a surprise, it was a complete shock to see him go down on one knee and propose. I didn’t know what was happening. It was a surreal moment. My parents were right behind me and I felt so awkward. I don’t even remember how I reacted.”

Sargun adds that she began enjoying the feeling a little later but was tongue-tied on stage with the cameras rolling. “It took a while to sink in, as in that moment all I was thinking was ‘Oh God he’s proposing on national television’.” Ravi and Sargun’s parents have met before and know about their serious relationship, but she was touched by his grand gesture.

“He did that because I once told him that he has never proposed to me. He wanted to do something special because he’s not a romantic guy. I hadn’t expected this,” she says.

Rupali Ganguly gets hitched to an NRI businessman at a low-key ceremony

While many TV couples make their weddings into a full-fledged media affair, some even going to the extent of marrying on air, there are others like Rupali Ganguly who do it under the radar. Rupali, who had been dating NRI businessman Ashwin K Verma, decided to get married to him in a private ceremony on Wednesday.

A source reveals, “Their mehendi ceremony was three days ago and barely anyone knew about it. Everything was done in such a jiffy that till yesterday morning, her blouse for her wedding sari wasn’t even ready. Rupali invited her close friends in the morning for that evening’s reception.” The couple had a court marriage with the registrar coming at her house and a wedding ceremony and pheras in Bengali style in the evening. Later, there was a reception at Kino Cottage in Andheri.

Friends from the industry included the cast of her Sony show Parvarrish and her earlier hit show Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai.

Her on-screen husband Vishal Singh, who works with her in  Parvarrish, is happy for his co-star. “She’s excited. Most of us in the cast knew that she’d been dating Ashwin for a while and that they will get married soon, but I guess they were waiting for an
auspicious day,” says Vishal.

Though Ashwin is from the US, Rupali has no plans of moving any time soon. “She will continue working here as he is trying to get into production as well. Rupali will soon take a short break for her honeymoon,” the source adds.
