Tom Cruise has said that he is considering spending 130,000 pounds to fly into orbit - and would love to bump into an alien.

"Who wouldn't want to do something like that" The Sun quoted him as saying at the Russian premiere of hi sci-fi film Oblivion in Moscow.

The 50-year-old actor said that he will let a couple of people test it out first.

He asserted that he had always been hoping when he was a kid that people would be travelling to different planets by now.

Cruise would be following in the footsteps of other celebs like Ashton Kutcher, who plan to go into space.

The Scientologist also believes that it is possible that that aliens may exist, as some of his religious friends believe that an alien called Xenu brought humans to Earth about 75 million years ago.

The 5ft 7in star had once flown in a Space Shuttle simulator at NASA's space centre in Houston, Texas.
