True to her form, Veena Malik has kicked up a storm once again in Pakistan. This time, she is hosting a show in Ramzan called Astaghfar (Repentence) in which she will ask for forgiveness from the Almighty during the holy month for her alleged sins. The show is being hosted by a newly launched TV station called Hero TV.
“Half of the show will be about the sin she has committed and then she will repent in front of a religious figure,” says media watcher.
The media is having a good time. “What will you watch this Ramzan?” asks one internet website.
However, many viewers are angry at the commercialisation and trivialisation of the Ramzan. “This is becoming a joke,” says TV journalist Sadia Khan. But Khan says that in her talks with Veena, it comes clear that she is keen to do this show. “Veena really wants to repent,” she says.
Some people say they are eagerly awaiting the show. One such hopeful is Muhammad Yunus, a driver by profession. But he asks whether his fast could break if he hears some of the things that Veena would repent for. “I am not sure, I will ask my maulvi,” he says.
