Moore, 49, announced in November that she was ending her marriage to Kutcher, 34, following
allegations that he cheated on her.
Now it is being said that the couple have not filed for divorce because they never made their marriage official, Radar Online reported.
The website quoted sources saying that Moore and Kutcher had a Kabbalah wedding which was merely a "symbolic ceremony and not a legal marriage".
The couple wed in September 2005 in a ceremony attended by 150 guests, including Demi's ex-husband Bruce Willis.
Kutcher has already moved on in life by dating Black Swan star Mila Kunis but Moore had a more difficult time coping up with the failure of her marriage.
The Ghost star had a brief stint in a rehab after suffering from exhaustion.
