It was with the TV quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), that Amitabh Bachchan made his comeback to the world of showbiz. But even as the seventh season (in 13 years) gets set to go on the air, we’ve heard that there are going to be a few significant changes this time.

Bachchan’s health concerns, an upcoming fictional TV show and multiple films in hand have led to alterations in the format as well as fewer episodes. A source says, “This year, there will be 36 episodes as opposed to the 52 that air every season.
Some other changes are also on the cards. Apparently, Mr Bachchan’s hectic work load is the primary reason. No one wants him to tax himself too much.”
When asked if Bachchan’s health was the reason that the episodes were reduced this season, the show’s producer, Siddhartha Basu, refrains from commenting. He says, “Wait for the announcement. There’s a lot that’s happening. At the moment, I don’t want to comment.”
Bachchan’s fictional show, directed by Anurag Kashyap, will go on air towards the end of the year. The first schedule was wrapped up recently. With KBC registrations underway, shooting for the show will begin soon. It is slated to go on air around August end-early September.
