Five and half-year old Amrita Mukherjee, who plays the role of Pihu in the TV show, Bade Ache Lagte Hain, is the current toast of TV. We caught up with the child artist who was recently in the city. Ask her who she is more close to — Ram (Ram Kapoor who plays her father) or Priya (Sakshi Talwar
who plays her mother), and she is quick to choose the latter. “Priya aunty plays with me all the time.
Ram uncle is also cute,” she says. Not a very big fan of make-up and dressing up, Amrita says, “I get tired of changing my dress constantly.” Amrita was in the city to attend the Child Most Popular Awards, organised by Shalini Vij of Hangout and Geetika Sasan of Child magazine. Her face lights up when she talks about art, which happens to be her favourite subject. “I enjoy making shapes of houses and scenery,” she says. But does she get time to play amid her packed shooting schedule? “I don’t get much time to play, but if I get to meet my friends, then we have fun,” says Amrita, who is a big fan of actor Salman Khan.
As for her sudden rise in the television industry, Amrita’s mother, Mrinmoyee Mukherjee, says, “She was chosen purely on her own calibre. Her spontaneity and promptness of dialogue delivery has made her so popular.”
