Anupam Kher, who considers fellow actor Anil Kapoor a “good and dear friend,” says he’d do anything for Anil. The veteran, who claims to be a fan of the Hollywood TV show 24 will soon be seen in the Indian adaptation of the show, also starring Anil. What’s more, Anupam did not charge any money for the role.
“I haven’t charged a single paisa but I used to eat at Anil’s house almost every day which became the form of payment. I play the role of a RAW agent called Wasim and will be seen in two episodes only, but it’s integral to the story,” he says.
Having worked in international films such as Silver Linings Playbook, Anupam believes, “It’s time TV moved to the next level. And this show will be the first big step towards that.” The actor says he would love to do more work on television now.
The 58-year-old, who had turned director years ago with Om Jai Jagdish (2002), isn’t thinking about helming any more films. “I run an acting school and want to be actively involved in it as a teacher. I’ve done 480 films so far, and I want to do unusual roles rather than working for the sake of it,” he says.
