Popular TV shows of yesteryears Chanakya and Byomkesh Bakshi will be aired again on Doordarshan, in a bid to boost up the TRPs, Doordarshan News tweeted on Thursday.

TV series Buniyaad will also be re-telecast.

Rituparno Ghosh finished the shooting for his version of Byomkesh Bakshi - a Bengali film, before his death. Sujoy Ghosh plays the protagonist in Rituparno's movie.

On Wednesday, Dibakar Banerjee announced Detective Byomkesh Bakshy - his upcoming directorial venture in collaboration with Yash Raj Films.  Sushant Singh Rajput will play the Bengali sleuth in Banerjee's film.

Chanakya was a historical show based on the story of Indian Machiavelli - Chanakya, the author of Chankaya Niti. Based on the play Mudra Rakshasaa, the TV series brought some of the legendary actors like Irrfan Khan, Surendra Pal and Neena Gupta among other veteran actors to the public eye. The show was written and directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. He also played the lead role in the show.
