Vidya Balan's The Dirty Picture has garnered thumbs up from B-Town celebs like Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt. Even the film critics have given it good reviews.
The Dirty Picture (2011) will finally have its television premiere albeit on a late-night slot. The Vidya Balan starrer that was slated to air on a prime-time slot in April this year, was cancelled by the I&B Ministry on the grounds of content that they found inappropriate for family
audiences.

The producer of the film, Ekta Kapoor however says that there was nothing obscene about the film. “I think my film was neither vulgar nor obscene. It’s a National Award-winning film. It faced problems because of some intra-channel issues,” says Kapoor, adding that she’s even prepared for the TV premiere of her sex comedy, Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum (KSKHH). “If there are objections, I’ll make changes in some of the scenes,” she says.

Echoing similar sentiments, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar says that there are double standards. “Parents can switch channels if they don’t want to expose their kids. They are anyway exposed to adult content through the Internet, pirated DVDs and English movie channels,” he says, adding, “I’ve always adhered to the cuts I’ve been asked to make, but often that takes away from the essence of the film. And if hit movies are aired late at night, they will not fetch channels any revenue.”

Filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, whose A-certified film, Jism 2 released last week, however says she will happily agree to a late-evening TV release for her film.
