After a nine-month hiatus, Homeland, will return to the airwaves with twelve new episodes following the escapades of Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes), Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) and Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin).

In the trailer for the new season, the CIA agent, her mysterious mentor and the much-maligned ex-Marine at the center of their endeavors all seem more alone than ever. Forced to flee after the attack that destroyed CIA headquarters, Brody wears a shaved head while on the lam. Carrie and Saul, meanwhile, testify in court regarding the tragic events that concluded season 2.

The first and second seasons of Homeland, in addition to developing a strong following among US viewers, earned high praise from critics and a number of awards. At the 65th Emmy Awards, held September 22, Claire Danes received her second consecutive award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role as the show's CIA agent.

Immediately following the season premiere of Homeland, Showtime will air, Masters of Sex, a new series based on two real researchers, William Masters and his wife Virginia Johnson.

British actor Michael Sheen (Twilight) will play the American sex researcher, an active contributor to the sexual revolution of the 1960s. A pioneer in the field, William Masters spent several years researching human sexuality alongside his partner, Virginia Johnson, who is played by Lizzy Caplan (True Blood).
