Vidhi Parekh and Ankur Verma in Jamuna Paar.
It’s not just Bollywood, Delhi seems to be the flavour of the television too. Be it 12/24 Karol Bagh that explored the lives of people in Central Delhi’s Karol Bagh or Sasural Genda Phool or Hitler Didi that’s based around Chandni Chowk. And now a new show, Jamuna Paar, will soon hit the tube,
capturing the differences between the two cultures of East Delhi and South Delhi.

The show, that will air on Imagine TV, is a love story of a South Delhi girl, Vidhi, played by Vidhi Parekh, and a East Delhi guy Bijju, played by Ankur Verma.

Talking about her character Parekh, says, “Vidhi Malhotra is a typical South Delhi girl from GK I. She is sophisticated, shy and a behind-the-scenes fashion designer.” The Pune girl says that this show was a sheer destiny for her. “I am an engineer by profession and had all the plans to do my MBA.

Acting was never on my agenda, till I was spotted by the show’s creative head,” she says. Talking about his character, Ankur, who is from Rohtak, says, “Bijju is a carefree, rough-at-the-edges yet a very talented  boy, who is part of his family business but aspires to be an actor.”

The show’s producer Rajan Shahi says, “I hail from Delhi and have been wanting to make a show with Delhi as the backdrop. We’ve shot at Chandni Chowk, Hauz Khaas, India Gate and at Jamuna Paar areas to bring the authentic flavour of Delhi.”
