I’d grown up watching Ulta Pulta and Flop Show. He was a unique talent who did satire effortlessly. The saddest part is that his new Punjabi film, Powercut, in which he launches his son, is due for release today and he won’t be there to see it. We did many events together. I hadn’t met him in over eight months, but now I wish I had.

I didn’t work with him a lot, but we shared mutual respect. We have lost a live cartoonist — yes that’s what I call him. Just as there are daily cartoons in newspapers, his take on every day events is the same, only he is vocal about them.

I worked with him in Kuch Naa Kaho. He was a sweet, well-behaved person who wasn’t pompous about being so famous. He was entertaining on the sets and taught me how to be subtle in comedy. He would joke constantly, so we all had to be alert in order to gauge what was a joke and what wasn’t.
