In a unique promotional strategy for his upcoming film Talaash, Aamir Khan recently shot a special episode called Nayi Soch Ki Talaash Aamir Ke Saath with members of the Star Parivaar on Thursday at Film City, Goregaon.
As part of the episode, Aamir left the floor open to all the actors to ask him whatever questions they wanted to.
During those few hours, Aamir patiently answered all the personal inquisitions about his divorce and remarriage and some professional queries about his co-actors.
Here are some highlights of the chat.
Niaa Sharma: We don’t know much about your family…
Aamir: We are a close knit, private bunch and I rarely talk about them. I have two sisters — Nikhat, who is happily married and stays in Pune and Farhat is married to Reena’s brother Rajiv and lives in New Jersey, US. Even after Reena and I filed for divorce, our family remains as close as ever.
Anas Rashid: Taking your mom to Haj must have been amazing…
Aamir: Yes. It was a great experience and one that I will never forget. There are three women who are very important parts of my life — my mother, Reena and Kiran. I even carry pictures of my family on my phone with me, especially my mom’s.
Neelu: The name of your younger son, Azad, is unusual. How did you pick it?
Aamir: Kiran wanted to name him Azad as she had undergone a lot (due to her miscarriage). I was happy to leave the decision up to her.
Shagufta Ali: Many people think you met Kiran while you were married to Reena. Is that true?
Aamir: No. Reena and I were married for 16 years. We grew up together as we both were very young when we got married.
Our separation was tough on both of us. It was a special relationship and is still very close to my heart. I was alone for three to four years and then I met Kiran. I didn’t even work for almost two years as I was coping with it. I am very emotional.
When we decided to part ways, Reena and I first explained the situation to our kids. My children, Junaid and Ira, are close to Kiran and Azad.
Gautam Gulati: You have worked with so many heroines. Don’t you ever get tempted to stray? And who are you closer to — Rani Mukerji or Kareena Kapoor?
Aamir: It is tough, as all heroines are very pretty. A little chedkhani (teasing) is fine; and Kiran understands that (smiles). As for the second question, I am closer to Rani.
Satyamev Jayate’s next season is on its way
Aamir Khan’s show Satyamev Jayate got a great response from audiences. And now he is gearing up for season two. “Yes, season two is on its way. We are working on it. Currently, I am halfway through the Dhoom:3 shoot. Then I will work on Rajkumar Hirani’s P.K. By then, the research for the second season should be over. Hopefully I should start the shoot for the next season after that,” says Aamir, adding that he can’t commit to any time frame at this point in time. “We are trying to bring season two to you as soon as possible.”
