Twenty years ago, long before we had hundreds of channels to surf through, a Hindi entertainment channel was launched which aired reality shows, daily soaps and cartoon shows dubbed in Hindi. The channel, Zee TV, is celebrating 20 years of its existence this month by organising a series of live
concerts across the country. These shows will feature singers from their show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and the dancers from popular dance reality show, Dance India Dance (DID) and will take place in Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Dehradun, Bhopal, Aurangabad, Kanpur and Lucknow.
Akash Chawla, marketing head — national channels, Zee, says, “We bring viewers these shows as a gesture of gratitude for their loyalty and support over the last 20 years. These entertainment events will bring talent from our shows Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and DID to the viewers. As a channel, we believe that it is the common man who is indeed our biggest star. Through the shows, we aim to provide our viewers with some real-time entertainment.” The event will be free of charge and seats will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Dance India Dance are the most popular properties of the channel and both continue to enjoy a big fan following. Both shows have made helped India’s common people realise their dreams of becoming singing or dancing stars.
