We didn’t expect to win. But it’s an amazing feeling.” That’s how Jay Bhanushali describes winning dance reality show Nach Baliye 5, along with wife Mahhi, who was his partner.
Jay Bhanushali and Mahi Vij won Nach Baliye finale this weekend.
Jay, who is best known for hosting reality shows Dance India Dance, says, “We had to put in a lot of hard work
and really deserved to win the show. Lot of times undeserving people win the show but I’m happy that everyone is saying that we deserved to win. For me winning was the only option as I wouldn’t have settled for anything less.” The 28-year-old reveals that it is only for Mahhi that he said yes to the show. “I said no to this show, thrice in this season. But Mahhi forced me to join and I’m really glad that I did.” Ask him how the show helped them bond and he say, “The show helped us in understanding each other much better.” Biggest competitor on the show? “I never thought of anyone as a competitor. We only wanted to win the show and focused on that rather than how and what others were doing.”
Mahhi says she and Jay were obsessed with their acts, and didn’t notice competition
Mahhi Bhanushali, who is best known for her role as Nakusha Patil of Laagi Tujhse Lagan says that the show helped Jay and her bond big time. The 30-year-old says, “We got loads of time to be with each other throughtout the show. As I had never worked with Jay before, it was a sheer pleasure.” And what about competitors? She says, “Throughout the show, we were too obsessed with ourselves and what we are doing and how our acts are going to be.” Moving on, Mahhi is all praises for all the show’s judges — actor Shilpa Shetty, filmmaker Sajid Khan and choreographer Terence Lewis. She says, “Shilpa ma’am was very warm towards everyone, especially the girls. I was floored by her humility. She has such an amazing smile. Sajid is transparent. He will never sugarcaost things. If he likes your performance, he will say it and if doesn’t, he’ll say that. Terence sees your hard work and dedication and focuses on the technicalities. He gets hurt whenever a contestant performs below his expectations.” she said.
