Jagjit Singh google doodle
Had ghazal king Jagjit Singh been alive, he would have turned 72 today, and to make the day special, search engine Google’s doodle today is dedicated to Singh. He passed away in October 2011 due to brain haemorrhage.

“Jagjit Singh was undoubtedly the ghazal king, and his demise was a huge
loss to the Indian music industry. As a tribute to India’s best known ghazal singer, the search engine  has created a doodle to pay respect to him,” says  Sandeep Menon, of Google India. The doodle shows Singh sitting with a harmonium, an instrument he held close.

The search engine is doing a few other special things on his birthday, including a knowledge graph. Any user who searches for Jagjit Singh is greeted with an overview of his life, popular songs, news, and his images. “This is our way of saying thank you to him,” adds Menon.
