Bipasha Basu at the launch of first theatrical trailer of her film Aatma set to release on March 22, 2013.
Bipasha Basu has started taking great interest in Bengali films and is thinking of getting in touch with a few directors from the industry as well. The actor says, “I would love to work with Prosenjit (Chatterjee). I have to give him a call. I don’t know why people in Mumbai think that actors
from Bengal don’t have the time to work in their own regional industry. That’s just mean.”

Bipasha who received rave reviews for her performance in Rituparno Ghosh’s Sab Charitro Kalponik (2009) says she is awed by the kind of mature and deep Bengali films that have been made recently.

It’s not that she keeps a tab on every critically acclaimed Bengali film, but she is awed by director Srijit Mukherji’s work. “I really loved Srijit’s latest film. I recently met him when he was in Mumbai, and we exchanged numbers. I would love to work with him because his films define a new kind of cinema. I see lots of films but I was really blown by his Baishe Srabon (2011) and Hemlock Society (2012),” she says.

Bipasha has even asked the filmmaker to create a role that would suit her best. “Recently, he called me to ask if I could act in a music video for him. I was a little busy so I couldn’t do it. But I called him back and asked him to think of something I can do later,” says Bipasha.

After featuring in films like Raaz 3 (2012) and the soon-to-release Aatma, Bipasha says she is not worried about getting typecast in horror film roles. She, in fact, believes that this means she has been successful at essaying her roles. “Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been any talk about typecasting,” she says.

Great responses for horror promos
Bipasha Basu is thrilled with the response to the promos of her new horror film, Aatma. They were released online on Sunday. “It’s on YouTube and has gone viral with people liking and tweeting about it. Not just the general audience, but also industry folks including my friends Ajay (Devgn), Abhishek (Bachchan), Shilpa (Shetty), Sujoy (Ghosh). It’s a novel kind of film, which is why I did it and the response proves that. I am very excited,” says Bipasha. The psychological thriller also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and child actor Doyel Dhawan.
