'India against corruption' may have been all over the airwaves in 2011, and the youth may have been the driving force behind Anna Hazare's lokpal movement, but the man himself has not made it to the top three Indian role models for the youth, according to the 2012 HT-MaRS Youth Survey.

The social activist took the fourth place, with 9.4% votes in his favour against 15.4% for Shah Rukh Khan — the top choice.

"Shah Rukh represents contemporary ideals of business and entertainment success while Hazare's views are just one of many in a country with a diverse political spectrum," said Shaman Marya, a Delhi University student.

Rahul Gandhi figured fifth in the list of Indian role models. The Congress leader's good looks scored big with Young India, with 14.9% voting him as the sexiest man alive, second only to Salman Khan, who was last year's favourite too.

Katrina Kaif was picked as the sexiest woman alive.

When it came to global role models, it seems Indian youth are still not ready for a change. US president Barack Obama retained the top spot while software icon Bill Gates was second. Surprisingly, the Facebook generation gave Mark Zuckerberg only 8.2% votes in this category. He shared the spot with the Dalai Lama.
