University of Southampton, UK, offers studentship for its MPhil/PhD programme

University of Southampton’s law school is offering four studentships for the students admitted onto its MPhil/PhD programme commencing in October 2012. The studentships will last for a maximum of three years (subject to an annual review of progress) and is worth £13528 per year).

The awards are available in any area of research connected to one of the school’s research centres that include centre for European law, centre for law, ethics and globalisation, health ethics and law network, institute of criminal justice, institute for law and the web, institute of maritime law and insurance law group.

In addition to pursuing MPhil/PhD study on a full time basis, recipients of the award will be required to undertake up to 80 hours of teaching per year on the school’s taught degree programmes or to provide research-related administrative support to their research centre (at the discretion of the head of school).  Interested candidates must apply for admission to the programme, stating that they wish to be considered for the studentship. The deadline to apply for the same is June 15, 2012.

The programme fee is £12500 per year and the estimated cost of living per full calendar year is £9600 making an approximate total cost of £22100 per year before taking into account the scholarship. Also, applicants will be required to meet the difference between the international and home/EU fees.
