Institute of Rural Management, Anand, or IRMA, conducts its own admission test for its postgraduate programmes.There are some critical points to keep in mind while attempting this test, which is slated for November 11, 2012
1 QA, VA and LR sections have 50, 50 and 60 questions,
respectively while GA has 40. Since 200 questions are to be solved in 120 minutes, starting with GA section is better as it is not timeconsuming.
2 One has to be selective in VA as reading comprehension (RV) passages tend to be large and require concentration.
3 QA and data interpretation are combined. The questions are simple and not very calculation-intensive but it is better to strategise due to time constraints.
4 Allocate time for every question and move on to the next if you cannot solve it in that much time.
5 A reasonable distribution of time: GA - 10 minutes, QA - 30 minutes, VA - 30 minutes and LR - 40 minutes and five minutes for review.
6 For GA, daily newspapers and magazines specialising in competitive examinations, especially Union Public Service Commission and state examinations, are to be referred regularly.
7 Since there are sectional cut-offs, an overall cut-off and negative marking, one should not try to solve as much as one can. Being selective is key.
8 In the GA section, don't mark answers randomly because you stand to lose if it is wrong.
