An oversight by two top premier medical institutes — Delhi's AIIMS and Chandigarh's PGIMER — may cost many the chance of their lives, as both institutions have scheduled their entrance examination for postgraduate courses on the same date. The admission notices of the All India Institute
of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, in newspapers and their sites mention November 18, 2012, as the entrance examination date for MD/MS courses.

And at least one of them seemed unmoved on Monday. PGIMER spokesperson Manju Wadwalkar told HT, PGIMER admission schedule was fixed around a year ago. "AIIMS has announced its admission schedule recently, so they should adjust it accordingly."

The sessions at both the institutes will start from January 2013. The decision has left medical graduates in shock, as they would be able to compete for only one of the two top institutes in the country.
