India has one of the world’s biggest public-funded school education systems with around 5.8 million teachers in 1.3 million schools, but the quality of education is falling as enrollment is shifting from public to private schools.
“To teach is to learn”, says a Japanese proverb. A good teacher is one who lives all his/her life a student. The first and the best natural teacher is the mother. As Gandhi said, “If you educate a man, you are educating an individual, but in educating a girl child, you are educating the family, society and the entire nation.”
"There have been many gurus in my life, starting with my mom who is my biggest guru. I look at Saroj Khan as another guru as I learned a lot from her when she choreographed me. and then there’s Pandit Birju Maharaj from whom I have learnt Kathak," says Madhuri Dixit.
