The Karnataka BJP is contemplating strict action against the legislators who have shown support to former chief minister and KJP leader BS Yeddyurappa.

Last week, 13 legislators had attended the rally launching Yeddyurappa’s Karnataka Janata Party in Haveri. Chief minister Jagadish Shettar had threatened action against them.

On Tuesday, former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda said the party had exercised extreme patience where Yeddyurappa was concerned. Others cannot expect the same indulgence.

Party sources said its core committee, headed by Shettar and including deputy chief minister KS Eshwarappa and BJP national general secretary HN Ananthkumar, is expected to meet in Belgaum on Wednesday. A decision is likely to be made on the possible action against the legislators who had attended the Haveri convention.

Gowda also hinted at disciplinary action against those who have identified with B Sreeramulu’s BSR party. “There will be no discrimination between MLAs, MLCs or MPs where party discipline is concerned,” he added.
