Karnataka State Minorities Commission has moved the Lokayukta against Union minister for minority affairs K Rahman Khan for alleged misuse of authority and misappropriation of public money.

In his complaint before the Upalokayukta, SB Majage, commission chairman Anwar Manippadi accused Khan and others of bungling Rs. 300 crore when the minister was the president of the bank. The Lokayukta post is vacant in Karnataka. Several government officials have also been named in the complaint.

Khan, however, dismissed the charges as "politically motivated". "With assembly elections in Karnataka round the corner, such politically motivated acts are being resorted to by the BJP government," Khan said.

The BJP has demanded Khan's resignation.
