Supporters of former CM B S Yeddyurappa celebrate after the leader was granted bail in Chikmagalur in Karnataka.
After 24 days of judicial custody, former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa walked free on Tuesday, upon getting bail from the Karnataka high court in a case relating to land denotification.

Last week, he was granted bail by the same judge in a similar case. Three more cases are
pending against him in a Lokayukta court.

Yeddyurappa left Parappana Agrahara Central Prison with his former cabinet colleague Krishnaiah Setty. The former CM, who was received by his followers outside the jail and was taken home, said he has faith in the judicial system.

“In the coming days, the truth will come out,” he said.

Yeddyurappa had quit the post of chief minister in August after the Lokayukta indicted him for illegal mining.

Following a petition by Sirajin Basha and KN Balraj on allegations of land denotificaton, a special Lokayukta court remanded him in judicial custody on October 15. He was accused of using his position as CM to help his family get prime property in Bangalore at throwaway prices.

Welcoming the court order, chief minister Sadananda Gowda said he would soon hold a state-wide tour with Yeddyurappa to strengthen the party.
