The houses of a retired government officer and a retired professor were burgled on Sunday and Saturday respectively. Police have registered a case in both the incidents and started investigation.
On Sunday, when retired government officer Mohan Lal Dudhani went out for a morning walk, burglars fled with Rs. 1 lakh cash and valuables worth over Rs. 2 lakh. The police said Dudhani, 73, a resident of Arera Colony, had gone for a walk along with his wife. When he came back, he found that the almirah’s lock was broken and valuables and cash were missing. Later, he approached the Habibganj police station and lodged a complaint. Dudhani told the police that he had locked the main gate before leaving for a walk. The main gate’s lock was unbroken but the almirah’s was broken.
In the other theft, Kamal Dongara, 82, a retired professor of the MLB College, has registered a complaint at the Shyamla Hills police station that her jewellery has been stolen. Dongara told the police that the lock of her almirah was found broken and gold and silver jewellery worth around Rs. 1 lakh was missing from it. The police said interrogation of the house helps was being carried out as Dongara lived alone and around four house helps were working in the house.
