CM: cr to free Narmada of pollution

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in Hoshangabad on Sunday that a Rs. 1,300 crore scheme would be implemented effectively for keeping Narmada river free from pollution.


He said nullahs would be stopped from emptying into Narmada. Active cooperation of all sections of society would be sought for the task. Such industries would be established which do not pollute Narmada water.

Chouhan was addressing people at Sethani Ghat in Hoshangabad on the occasion of Narmada Jayanti Mahotsav. He also performed pooja along with his wife Sadhna Singh. He administered a pledge to people not to pollute Narmada.

The CM said, “Narmada is the lifeline of Madhya Pradesh and has paved the way of the state’s prosperity and progress.” He said Mukhyamantri Swa-rozgar Yojna was being launched for assisting youngsters in garnering employment. Effective steps had been initiated towards women’s empowerment. Assistance was being provided to construct toilet in every household to create a pollution-free environment.

He said every person should plant minimum one sapling on Narmada bank every year. For this, works under Hariyali Chunari Yojana should be accelerated. Senior BJP leader Kaptan Singh Solanki, minister of state for agriculture Brijendra Pratap Singh, Yojangandha Singh, Girijashankar Sharma, Madhukar Harne and Vijaypal Singh also spoke on the occasion.
