A collection agent was allegedly robbed of Rs. 7 lakh cash at knifepoint by three unidentified motorcycle-borne youths near Lalghati close to Koh-e-Fiza on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. Naresh Kumar Chandnani, 50, who lives in Bairagarh, was robbed when he was on his way back home riding a two-wheeler.

Additional superintendent of police Ajay Pandey said the complainant has stated that three motorcycle-borne robbers waylaid him and escaped with his bag that contained the cash. The ASP added that the police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for the robbers.

The complainant said the looters asked him to stop but when he didn’t respond to it, they pushed him and as a result he fell down. One of them whipped out a knife and took away the bag before riding away the victim’s two-wheeler.

A few hours later, his two-wheeler was found abandoned.

Policemen said they were verifying the complainant’s statement, especially about the amount looted as they suspected that hawala money could also be part of the collected money. The looters were riding a black motorcycle and hadn’t kept their faces covered.
