Former Olympian and senior Congress leader Aslam Sher Khan is organising a conclave of party workers at Iqbal Maidan in Bhopal on Sunday.
"The party workers from across the state will gather in Iqbal Maidan to deliberate on the strategy to strengthen Congress party," Khan told reporters on Saturday.
He said the meeting will specially focus on how to keep intact the party's core vote that comprises dalits, tribals and minorities.
When asked about the Congress rally at Vidisha, also being organised on Sunday and coinciding with the Iqbal Maidan conclave, Khan said, "It is being organised by the party leaders while his meeting is focused on party's core vote".
He clarified that the purpose of both the meetings is to "strengthen" Congress.
When asked about the reason behind holding a separate meeting at Iqbal Maidan and holding Vidisha rally, Khan said, "When some leaders don't consider necessary to discuss issues with him then there is no point in going there on our own."
