Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has registered a case against Brijesh Rai, superintending engineer and general manager of Central Region Power Distribution Company Limited, and stenographer Sudama Jhade on charges of criminal conspiracy, fraud and false entry in government documents.

According to an EOW officer, Rai faced charges of corruption for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

On April 25, 2012, EOW submitted an application before a special court to seize the property of Rai under Madhya Pradesh Special Courts Act 2011. Rai submitted an affidavit to the special court on July 19, 2013, to justify the purchase of immovable property.

The police verified the authenticity of his claims. In the verification, it was found that the letters were not genuine.

The handwriting of entry of the permission in the register is different from other entries.
