A gang rape victim tried to end her life by setting herself afire at Barauna village in Bhind district, about 500 kilometers north east of Bhopal. The girl who received critical burn injuries was admitted to Jayarogya hospital in Gwalior.

Sub division officer of police (SDOP) Amarnath Verma said the 16-year-old victim had gone to attend nature's call on Wednesday when Shyamu Singh Tomar, 22, and Karu Singh Sikarwar, 23, abducted and raped her. Both the rape accused fled after committing the crime.
The girl returned home depressed and distraught but did not tell her parents about the incident. Later, she set herself afire after pouring kerosene on herself. When she gained some consciousness she narrated her nightmarish experience.

Police, on the complaint of the parents, registered a case of rape against Shyamu Singh and Karu Singh and launched a manhunt to arrest them.
