This irregularity was detected in 10 places by collector Mahesh Kumar Agrawal, who cancelled all the applications and action is likely against the surveyor who presented the fraudulent report.

The surveyor who presented the report has been identified as Rajiv Ranjan, a resident of Indore.

He is a registered surveyor with the mining department.

Two companies, BR Goyal Construction and GVR Constructions had applied for the mining rights.

The collector said he has written to the state government to cancel the licence of the surveyor.

He had also asked the two companies to pay keen attention to the environmental impact of the mines.

According to rules, whenever any land is given on lease for mining then two types of project reports have to be presented.

A mining management report where the method to be used for mining is mentioned and an environment management report in which the likely damage caused to the environment beacause of the mine is put forth.

The reports are presented before the district-level committee for mining and they issue the licences.

In the survey report it was mentioned that there is no environment damage in case of sand mining.

Actually, it is much easier to get clearance for sand mining compared to stone mining where there is greater damage to the environment.

Incidentally, it was mentioned in the report that Rabria and Kusmania (the location of the proposed mines) were situated near a river, when in reality they are situated far away.
