Women’s helpline is being launched from January 1 throughout the state. Its toll-free telephone number will be 1090. This information was given at a high-level meeting of officers on Monday.
At the meeting, chief secretary R Parasuram reviewed progress of implementation of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s directives and action plan for safety of women.
DGP Nandan Dube and senior officers of the home, women & child, education, law and legislative affairs and other departments concerned attended the meeting.
At the meeting, preparations for database of people involved in crimes against women, formation of anti- eve teasing squads and intensive police patrolling were reviewed.
Stress was laid on making early arrangements for imparting judokarate training to girls in government colleges.
The secretary of higher education department informed that efforts would be made for starting the training in January. At the meeting, launch of public awareness campaign in urban and rural areas was also discussed.
Discussions were also held at the meeting for administering a pledge for awareness regarding crimes against women in all the districts on January 18.
Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate in the programme at Bhopal.
Discussions were also held to make role of officers appointed for taking action in cases under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act and dowry harassment more effective.
The Chief Secretary stressed the need for training at all levels. He instructed concerning departments to implement concrete steps to control crimes against women at the earliest.
