Madhya Pradesh: Advocates thrash man over fees

A 22-year-old man was severely thrashed by advocates on the district court premises under MP Nagar Police station on Monday. The victim has been admitted to Hamidia Hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable.


According to the police, Halke Ram (22), resident of Udaypura, Raisen district, had come to the Bhopal district court for applying bail for his brother-in-law and sister-in-law.

Fo r the purpose, he approached advocates Hemendra Jain and Abhay Jain, who demanded Rs. 2000 as their fee. But, Halke requested them to take Rs. 500, as he did not have the requisite amount.

Halke told the police that when he requested Jain to take Rs. 500, he started abusing him and subsequently a group of advocates gathered around and started to beat him up. After being thrashed, Halke fell unconscious and was rushed to JP Hospital. He was later referred to Hamidia Hospital.

Halke has received injuries on his legs, hands, head, chest and other parts of the body. A case has been registered against Hemendra Jain and Abhay Jain under section 294, 323 and 506 (34) of IPC and investigation is on.
