A married couple committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan of the room at New Raj Mohalla under Malharganj police limit on Tuesday. Police said Umesh Prajapti and his wife were living with their two children Honey (5) and Samarthya (3).
Umesh was a dealer of bricks and was from a well-off family, sources said. According to police, Umesh returned home after dropping Honey at school and hanged himself along with his wife Bhavana. No suicide note was found from the spot.
The body was first seen by Umesh’s cousin Kapil who entered the house in the afternoon. The couple was rushed to a hospital but was declared brought dead.
Police are yet to ascertain the reason that led the couple take the extreme step. “They have a joint family and a joint business. Police are yet to ascertain the reasons behind the suicide,” said Sitaram Yadav, town inspector Malhargaj.
