The Election Commission of India ( ECI) has directed collectors to prepare a revised election plan for districts by August 20.
Deputy election commissioners of the ECI Sudhir Tripathi and Vinod Zutshi while interacting with collectors and superintendents of police of the Shahdol, Ujjain, Indore, Bhopal and Hoshangabad divisions through video conferencing asked them to ensure that all directives of the commission be incorporated in the election plan.
During the meeting, deputy election commissioner Zutshi informed collectors that this time sector magistrates would be present for every 10-12 booths.
The magistrates would get active as soon as the model code of conduct is enforced, he said.
Zutshi said the administration has to ensure that voting is held without any fear or favour.
Central paramilitary troops will not be kept in reserve and would have to deployed while paramilitary would not be deployed for security of the candidates or observers, he added.
Chief electoral officer MP Jaideep Govind said more than 15,000 booths have been identified as “critical” for the upcoming assembly elections.
Vulnerability mapping has been completed in almost all districts, he said.
Officials of the home department and the police were also present at the meeting.
