She has reportedly named some more persons in her statement before the magistrate.

This incident occurred in Raisen, 45 km south east of Bhopal. The 15-year-old Dalit girl, belonging to Gairatganj, was molested by a teenaged youth when she had gone out of the house for some work on Thursday evening. The girl managed to return home and told the entire incident to her parents, who subsequently lodged an FIR against the youth. The accused was arrested and later remanded in judicial custody.

Police said the accused’s father Kanchhedi Lal, who was upset with his son’s arrest, reached the girl’s house on Saturday, poured kerosene on her and set her afire. She was first rushed to the local government hospital and later referred to Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Shashikant Shukla said a case of attempt to murder has been registered against accused’s father Kanchhedi Lal.

Additional SP Mukesh Vaish said investigation was on. All other accused would be arrested too.
