A joint team of MPTDC and Ventura has accorded technical approval to the Dhana airstrip at Sagar giving rise to hopes people of Sagar could be connected by air to other cities through Ventura air taxi facility. However, another team will soon be here for exploring commercial traffic and viability of the project.

Some years back Pavan Hans project offered the people hope of air connectivity but later the couldn't be started. Now on initiative of newly appointed Sagar collector Raghvendra Sharma a joint team of MP Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC) and Ventura Airconnect Pvt Ltd examined the Dhana air strip and approved it on technical parameters. The team on Monday and Tuesday conducted its examination of the airstrip where at present an aviation academy is also running. Vishrut Acharya, Project director of MPTDC, said, "The Ventura experts found the air strip technically suitable and we will be submitting our report and another team is likely to come soon to examine the commercial viability.".

Anupam Raj Mishra of Holiday Point Tours & Travel said that air connectivity is badly needed as at present people have to travel to Bhopal or Delhi to catch the flights. With Central university, divisional headquarters, Medical College, Army establishment and Nauradehi wildlife sanctuary, there is good scope for launching air service to other cities. Currently many students also book air tickets from Bhopal to other destinations.

Collector Raghvendra Sharma said sensing the need of air connectivity for the people of Sagar and adjoining areas he had requested managing director of MPTDC Raghvendra Singh to send the team.

The joint collaboration of Ventura and MPTDC already provides air taxi facilities covering Indore, Jabalpur, Rewa and Bhopal.
