Bhartiya Janata Party’s state president Narendra Singh Tomar claimed on Monday that the documents with Income Tax department in which names of BJP leaders appeared for availing air travel fare were forged.
Notably, a newspaper in Delhi carried a story on Sunday claiming that the fare for air travels of RSS leader Suresh Soni, the then state BJP president Prabhat Jha, MP Anil Madhav Dave and certain others was provided by mining baron Sudhir Sharma’s SR Group.
In a press conference called to defend mineral resources minister Rajendra Shukla and public relations minister Laxmikant Sharma whose names also appear in a diary as ones who were bribed by SR Group and builder Dilip Suryavanshi, Tomar accused the UPA government at the Centre of misusing its agencies like Income Tax department unabashedly ahead of the state assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh.
“Congress is losing grounds in Madhya Pradesh and has gone back to its old ploy of misusing central agencies to target opponents,” said Tomar.
I-T department did not summon the ministers for any inquiry, which clearly indicates that the documents found did not hold much weight.
He questioned the authenticity of the documents that formed the basis of news in media.
Earlier, also there had been instances of names being mentioned in diaries but that did not hold ground in courts and people were acquitted. State BJP will not tolerate such acts of Congress, said Tomar.
State BJP president said names also appeared in diaries during hawala scam and raids on Som distillery.
Nobody resigned then, why has the criteria changed now, asked Tomar.
Before assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh central enforcement agencies were misused against Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Similarly, in Andhra Pradesh CBI and I-T raids were conducted before assembly by- polls at Jagan Reddy to spoil his image.
In Gujarat also misuse of CBI was carried out, said Tomar.
Information and technology minister Kailash Vijayvargiya producing the I-T documents in a press conference said how such papers can be leaked when they are marked ‘confidential’.
Congress wants to fight assembly elections with income tax department as shield. Sighting the I-T department’s appraisal report that mentioned ‘ it appears that this person is related to RSS and BJP’, Vijayvargiya asked whether the department also investigated people’s allegiance to political parties.
Vijayvargiya said JS Walia was business partner of leader of Opposition Ajay Singh and had benefitted huge amounts during his father’s tenure.
