A 13-year-old girl was raped in Akhlaspur Mandai village under Bhabua police station in Kaimur district of western Bihar.

When contacted, woman's police station in-charge at Bhabua Saroj Kumari said Dipak Kumar and Chhote Lal, also residents of Akhlaspur Mandai village, were named as accused in the FIR.

Official sources said of the two, only Chote Lal has been accused of raping the victim.

"Kumar apparently panicked and left the spot in a hurry when the victim showed signs of extreme distress," said an official.

Both have been named in the complaint for forcibly lifting the victim. But only Lal has been accused of actually raping her.

The woman's police station SHO, who rushed the girl to the Bhabua sadar hospital, said a medical examination confirmed that the girl was raped.

A police officer said the incident occurred on Tuesday but was reported to the police on Thursday, after the victim's father, who had gone out of the village to attend a feast, returned home.

He said Lal and Kumar forcibly took the girl to a secluded spot near a dried canal where Lal forced himself upon her.

"They left her lying there after threatening her with dire consequences if she informed anyone about the incident," he added.

Kaimur SP Ratnamani Sanjeev said a special police team headed by Bhabua PS SHO had been constituted to nab the culprits.
