A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by four youths in the outskirts of her village in Rohtas district of south-western Bihar early on Sunday morning.
The incident took place at Kekai Mohania village under Nokha police station of Rohtas district. An FIR naming four youths as accused in the case was registered at the Nokha police station on the basis of her statement.
Confirming this, Nokha station house officer (SHO) M Khan said one of the four accused, identified as Wakeel Chaudhary, had already been arrested. Hunt was on to nab the remaining three accused, he said.
The other accused persons named in the FIR were Munna Chaudhary, Harekrishna Chaudhary and Kallu Chaudhary, all in age group of 18-20, the Nokha SHO told HT late on Sunday afternoon. The Rohtas SP could not be reached for his comment.
The victim, illiterate daughter of poor agriculture labourers, had gone to attend a ‘chaita’ (folk music) programme organised in the periphery of her village, with only her four-year-old brother for company.
As per her statement to the police, when the victim was returning home around 2am on Sunday with her kid brother, the four accused, her co-villagers, allegedly dragged her to an abandoned house near a Shiva temple and raped her.
The FIR was instituted after the girl returned home and informed her family members about the incident.
“The medical examination of the girl was conducted at the sub divisional hospital, Dehri. The report is awaited”, the SHO said.
