The Kingfisher Ultra Fashion Week in Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh ran into trouble after Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists forced the show to shut for allegedly hurting their religious sentiments, on Sunday.

Following objections to the alleged use of the images of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi on "revealing" dresses, the police registered a case against the show organisers.

Later the company issued a statement that the event was cancelled due to unfavorable conditions. Vishakapatnam police commissioner, B Shivadhar Reddy said investigation was on.

"It is not that the police stopped the fashion show. The organisers called it off after Hindu groups protested," Reddy said.
