A 19-year-old girl has alleged that she was drugged and raped by her friend and two other youths.

The incident came to light on Tuesday morning after the victim was found lying unconscious on the roadside at an isolated place. A passerby had spotted her and called the police control room. The teenager was rushed to Mahavir Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment currently.

Since the victim's statement was recorded when she was still under the influence of sedatives, the police were yet to know that she was raped or gang-raped.

The complaint was lodged at the Rani Bagh police station.

The police registered a case of abduction and poisoning. A senior police officer said they would add rape charges only if medical examination proved it.

The victim, a class 12 passout, in her complaint alleged that she had left home on Monday evening after an argument with her family.

"She first went to a cyber café where she contacted her friend, whom she knew met through a social networking site. She asked him to meet her. He arrived in a car with two friends. They left in the car and on the way the friend gave her a cold drink laced with sedatives. Soon, she fell unconscious and was later found lying on the roadside on Tuesday," a police officer said.
