Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh on Thursday said the party's Central Parliamentary Board was yet to take a decision on who will be its chief ministerial candidate for the Delhi Assembly elections.
Singh's statement came a day after the party said it will announce the chief ministerial candidate for Delhi "soon".
"As far as the chief ministerial candidate and the prime ministerial candidates are concerned, only the Central Parliamentary Board can take a decision on this. And, regarding the Delhi CM candidate, no decision has been made so far," Singh said. Assembly elections in Delhi are due in November this year.
Party spokesperson Prakash Javdekar, however, confirmed that four-time MLA Harsh Vardhan has been appointed as head of the campaign cell of BJP for the Delhi assembly polls. "The party had appointed him as the head of the campaign cell at the national executive in Goa," Javdekar said.
