Seeking to scotch speculation of a rift within its ranks, the Delhi BJP on Wednesday addressed reporters sitting before a ‘Team BJP’ poster instead of the usual Vijay Goel picture.
The ‘Jeetenge Dilli, Jeetenge Bharat, Team BJP’ poster was in line with the ‘collective leadership’ dictum introduced by the Delhi Assembly polls incharge Nitin Gadkari. The former national BJP president had formed separate committees after several senior city leaders of the party complained to him against the working style of Delhi unit chief Vijay Goel.
The ‘united BJP’ fielded questions by the reporters with the leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly VK Malhotra, former Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta, senior BJP leader Vijay Jolly and former Mayor Arti Mehra sharing the dais. According to sources, Gadkari convened the first meeting of the election committee on Wednesday and directed all senior leaders to gear up for elections.
