Gangraped and set on fire, a 14-year-old girl lost her battle for life in Jalaun’s Sirsa-Kalan village on Wednesday. Though the girls’ family has named three men, the police claim she had a relationship with one of them and had committed suicide.
According to the family, on Tuesday, the girl had gone to the fields with her sister when she was abducted by a local goon, Ram Bahadur, and two others. The men took her to an isolated spot, raped her and set her on fire. The girl’s sister rushed home and narrated the incident. “But by the time help arrived, she had sustained severe burns,” said the girl’s brother.
The police claimed the girl had gone to meet Bahadur and after being spotted by the brother, committed suicide out of depression. “We have booked the men for rape and abetment to suicide,” said RP Pandey, station officer, Sirsa-Kalan.
