Election Commission of India's Goa office is contemplating filing a first information report (FIR) against the Goa Cricket Association president and Congress legislator Dayanand Narvekar for violation of election code of conduct. Joint chief electoral officer, Narayan Navti, told
reporters here that deputy collector, who was investigating the alleged violation, had recommended filing of FIR.

Narvekar is accused of violating the code by distributing free sport kits to local clubs affiliated to GCA, allegedly for luring the voters ahead of March 3 assembly polls.

"We have forwarded the recommendation to the Election Commission of India, seeking advice. We are waiting for communication from the Commission," Navti said.

Narvekar, a former vice president of BCCI, is eyeing Congress ticket from Aldona constituency.

Two Goa residents, Shekhar Salkar and Vallabh Kamat Dhakankar, had filed complaint with the Commission regarding the distribution of kits.
