The hooch tragedy rocked the Gujarat assembly on Thursday, as Congress members staged high-decible protests against BJP government leading to suspension of seven opposition MLAs for rest of the current budget session for “unruly behaviour” and a simlar action against the entire opposition from the day’s proceedings.

Assembly Speaker Ashok Bhatt also imposed a fine of Rs. 3600 on the three members who, according to him, broke the mikes in the House.

Those who have been suspended are Amit Chavda, Lalsinh Vadodia, Chandrikaben Baria, Shailesh Parmar, Kuvarji Halpati, CK Raolji and Aswin Kotwal.

“The fine of Rs. 3600 will be recovered from three members including Lalsinh Vadodia, Amit Chavda and Chandrikaben Baria,” the Speaker said.

The entire Opposition was suspended for a day by the Speaker after the members were forcefully evicted from the House.

The Speaker also restrained the visual media from showing the uproarious scenes of the House.

The Opposition party demanded sacking of Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded a two-hour special debate in the House on the spurious liquor tragedy which has claimed over 85 lives so far.
